Dear God,
I need your help and insight. What do you have for me today?
Love,
Lisa
Dearest human,
The first thing I need you to know is that this is all part of my plan. I know it doesn’t make sense now, but someday it will. It has to happen this way, not just for you, but for everyone involved. Everyone is on their own path, but those path intertwine in magical but extremely complicated ways. When your path intertwines with someone else’s sometimes it feels like yours makes no sense, but yours does make sense in light of theirs.
Everything makes sense only in light of everything else all at once. That is both the beauty and the struggle of living in a world of reality and timelines. They all must work together, which doesn’t always look like beauty in the moment.
There is only certainty of beauty in the eternal.
But, let me tell you, there is certainty of beauty in the eternal.
There is also beauty in the small moments. Just because there is a large story going on that doesn’t feel beautiful, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t little moments of beauty and joy within. You just have to focus on those rather than the storyline, and everything will start to sort itself out.
Now, on to the human you’re growing. I want you to take a deep breath when it comes to that. Everything is not just fine, it’s more than fine. She is healthy and happy and all is well. Trust that listening to your body is the most important thing you can do, and that listening to your body really means listening to the still small voice coming from within that guides you.
And of course, that voice is me.
You’re doing great. Small stressors and life coming at you are not enough to disturb the great reality that is the creation of life itself. Rest assured, you’re not that powerful. It is my will to bring this baby into creation and she will be here.
Thank you for being there for those who you know need it right now. Sometimes it’s okay if you don’t know what to say. The silence and the listening is enough to let them know they are heard.
Now friendship. As you get older, friendships often change. As you enter different seasons friendships change. Don’t sweat the little changes. Don’t worry if you’re doing enough. Put me first and I promise, everyone will come to mind just when they are meant to. Friendship shouldn’t be a chore, it should be a natural joy that fits into your life.
Oh, and my final topic for today. Your public presence. What I want to tell you today is just to relax. The way that you put yourself out there is perfect as long as your heart is close to mine. When you’re trying to prove something or gain something it will always cause you to question yourself, but it’s not because of how the content is received, it’s because of where your heart was when your posted it.
So, don’t worry about the content, just worry about your heart and let the content take care of itself. Oh, and same thing with you day job, and even your care for your puppy. Don’t focus on the details of it all, that’s where you end up in fear, just focus on me, and it will all take care of itself.
You got this girl.
Love,
God
Also, if you’re new here, I’m Dr. Lisa Stanton, and I want to welcome you to my writing home.
A bit about me: I write and teach about faith, recovery (not just from addiction, also mental health, physical illness, the need for control…just about anything), and the process of unlearning the things that keep us from peace.
My publication is called The Unlearning Gazette, and my emails are simple: stories, reflections, and reminders that God hasn’t gone anywhere, even when life feels heavy or confusing.
So, welcome, or hello, it’s great to see you again!
