Dearest Human, Love God (#37): Foresight Can Be 20/20

Dear God,

I need your help and insight. What do you have for me?

Love,

Lisa

Dearest human,

It is okay to just keep turning it over to me and trusting that doing so is enough. Uncertainty is one of the most beautiful conditions because, in some ways, it is a test of faith, and in other ways, it is the constant condition of humanity and of beingness itself. Everything is always uncertain, some things just feel more uncertain than others. When you can remember that, you’re much more likely to find serenity in the acute uncertainties and also in the constant uncertainties of life itself.

Trust yourself. Don’t trust the way you see others reacting. Trust that you know me, and trust that for those who know me, life is different. It’s okay to be okay in situations that other people are not. It’s okay to react differently to circumstances than most people.

Never feel ashamed for not feeling disturbed because the ability to cope isn’t something to take pride in anyway, it’s simply the natural result of being close to me.

Those who are close to me find comfort in chaos again and again. Or, perhaps said differently, sometimes they don’t even see the chaos at all. They don’t see the happenings of the world the way other people see them.

It’s not something to be ashamed of. It’s just part of life with me. Think of it, you no longer react to alcohol the way others do. You no longer react the way to food others do. You no longer react to relationships the way other people do. You no longer react to politics the way other people do. And, you no longer react to them the way that you used to, which, is chaos. Let your reactions be your reactions. There is never a need to compare them to a single other being on this Earth.

Rest in me the rest of this week. The uncertainty is always here and will always be here. Approach the uncertainty with excitement for the void it holds that I can fill. Approach it without expectation. After all, has there ever been a time when my timing wasn’t right in the end? Hindsight is 20/20, but foresight can be 20/20 also if you let it.

Love you girl,

God

Also, if you’re new here, I’m Dr. Lisa Stanton, and I want to welcome you to my writing home.

A bit about me: I write and teach about faith, recovery (not just from addiction, also mental health, physical illness, the need for control…just about anything), and the process of unlearning the things that keep us from peace.

My publication is called The Unlearning Gazette, and my emails are simple: stories, reflections, and reminders that God hasn’t gone anywhere, even when life feels heavy or confusing.

So, welcome, or hello, it’s great to see you again!

The Unlearning Gazette is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
