Dearest Human, Love God (#36): Utopia isn’t Elsewhere

Dear God,

I need your help and insight. What do you have for me?

Love,

Lisa

Dearest human,

What a gift it has been to watch you grow this season.

What a gift it has been to watch you sit quietly and not run to share things for validation.

What a gift it has been to watch you remember that the world is fun, the world is a playground, and it doesn’t have to be so hard or so heavy.

What a gift it has been to watch you really let go of the body image stuff as you step into this next chapter of motherhood.

What a gift it is to watch you grow in way that you didn’t know you needed to.

What a gift it has been to watch you seek my heart in new ways, and dig into Genesis.

What a gift it is to watch you realize that I never ask you to be perfect, just like I never asked Abraham or Isaac or Jacob or Moses or Joseph. And yes, I wrote the Bible so I know some of those names are from Exodus.

Thank you for trusting me with this chapter of your life. Isn’t it fun to see the peace that can live in your heart amidst the chaos of the the world, your country, your city, and even your home. Isn’t it a gift to realize none of it is really all that chaotic in the context of the whole of time. It’s nothing new. It’s just humanity. Humanity being messy and chaotic doesn’t make it any less good. It’s always been good because I created it as such. That doesn’t mean each human action is good, it just means that the nature of humanity itself has always been good. It’s just hard to experience that good disconnected from me, which you are learning day by day.

Just like the Colossians, in this next chapter you’re stepping into, I want to remind you that you don’t have to look anywhere except to me. Don’t look outside this world…everything you need is here. I will guide you back into the world to interact with the millions of messengers of my light that I have placed. The salt is on the ground. Don’t overcomplicate it. Don’t worry about answering all your questions, just spend the time with me and everything will work out as it’s supposed to.

Remember, I didn’t make you to sit around and pray all day. My love is about being in this world, not trying to escape this world. Utopia isn’t elsewhere, Utopia is the love that’s possible right here when you share it with others.

I can’t wait to watch the love that you are sharing with others in this season. And remember, it’s about doing, it’s not about proving anything, it’s not about being right, it’s not about defending me…I got that covered. Just love others.

That’s all for now.

Love,

God

Note: This is simply my prayer journal that I choose to share with you all. It is not me claiming to speak for God. It’s not me claiming I have a prophetic message for you. It’s just what happens when I ask for help and pick up a pen, and lots of people have found it helpful so I continue to share it.

Also, if you’re new here, I’m Dr. Lisa Stanton, and I want to welcome you to my writing home.

A bit about me: I write and teach about faith, recovery (not just from addiction, also mental health, physical illness, the need for control…just about anything), and the process of unlearning the things that keep us from peace.

My publication is called The Unlearning Gazette, and my emails are simple: stories, reflections, and reminders that God hasn’t gone anywhere, even when life feels heavy or confusing.

So, welcome, or hello, it’s great to see you again!

The Unlearning Gazette is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
