What is Unlearning?
Maybe you’ve been here…
You keep finding yourself in the same relationships.
You can’t stop overthinking.
You struggle to forgive.
You constantly feel like you’re not enough.
You keep trying harder, yet nothing really changes.
You carry shame that never seems to go away.
You promised yourself this time would be different.
And yet somehow, you end up back in the same place.
You’re not alone.

Maybe the issue isn’t a lack of effort.
Maybe it’s a lifetime of learning.
We learn from our families.
We learn from culture.
We learn from pain.
We learn from trauma.
We learn from success.
We learn from failure.
Some lessons serve us.
Others quietly keep us stuck.
That’s why The Unlearning Foundation exists.
At The Unlearning Foundation, we believe we don’t just need more information; we need transformation.
Real transformation begins by unlearning the beliefs, patterns, and behaviors that keep us stuck.
We exist to help people recover not only from addiction, but also from the anxiety, shame, trauma, unhealthy beliefs, relationship patterns, and family dynamics that often lie beneath it. Our approach is rooted in the understanding that lasting change rarely comes from treating symptoms alone. Healing happens when we identify and replace the learned patterns that no longer serve us.
Drawing from psychology, neuroscience, wisdom found across spiritual traditions, and the power of honest community, we provide practical tools that help people build lives marked by freedom, purpose, and lasting growth
Our mission is to bridge the gap between short-term recovery and lifelong transformation. Through courses, workshops, mentorship, events, and ongoing educational content, both online and in person, we equip individuals to continue growing long after a crisis has passed or a treatment program has ended.
The Unlearning Foundation is a nonprofit organization. We collaborate with treatment centers, healthcare professionals, community organizations, and faith communities, but we are not a treatment program and are not affiliated with any specific religion. People of all backgrounds and beliefs are welcome.
The Unlearning Foundation was born from a simple realization: while there are many incredible organizations that help people survive a crisis, far fewer exist to help them truly transform for the rest of their lives.
Our founders arrived at this work from two very different paths. One came through decades of lived recovery, sponsoring others, and witnessing firsthand the power of long-term spiritual work in community. The other came through years of scientific research studying psychology, behavior change, and health. Although those journeys looked very different, they ultimately pointed to the same truth: information alone rarely changes people. Lasting transformation requires something deeper.
Too often, people leave treatment, complete a recovery program, or experience a moment of inspiration only to discover they have no clear path for continued growth. The same fears, family patterns, relationship dynamics, unhealthy beliefs, and learned behaviors that contributed to their struggles in the first place often remain untouched.
We created The Unlearning Foundation to help bridge that gap.
Our mission is to help people identify and unlearn the beliefs, behaviors, and patterns that keep them stuck so they can build lives marked by freedom, purpose, and hope. We believe lasting change happens when evidence-informed principles, timeless wisdom, honest community, and personal responsibility come together.
Through courses, workshops, mentorship, events, and ongoing educational content, we aim to equip people not only to recover, but to continue growing for the rest of their lives. Whether someone is overcoming addiction, navigating anxiety, healing from trauma, breaking generational cycles, or simply seeking a healthier way to live, our hope is to provide practical tools and meaningful relationships that support lasting transformation.
Because recovery isn’t just about stopping something. It’s about unlearning what no longer serves you so you can become who you were created to be.
